Pencil Sweets

Pencil Sweets: Fruity Chews with a Soft Centre

For sweet lovers who appreciate flavour with a bit of length to it, pencil sweets combine a chewy outer layer, a soft fondant centre and enough colour to make an ordinary sweet bowl look considerably more optimistic. Their long shape is instantly recognisable, their texture is pleasingly substantial and their fruit flavours range from familiar strawberry and apple to blue raspberry, rainbow and bubblegum.

There is a pencil for almost every mood. Choose Apple Pencil Sweets for a crisp fruit flavour, Blue Raspberry Pencils for a bright berry hit or Rainbow Pencil Sweets when choosing one colour feels unnecessarily restrictive. For an extra tangy coating, Fizzy Assorted Pencils offer several flavours in one lively mix.

What Are Pencil Sweets?

Pencil sweets are long liquorice-style confectionery pieces, usually made with a fruit-flavoured chewy casing around a smooth, pale fondant filling. Despite the traditional liquorice construction, many modern fruit pencils contain no black liquorice flavour at all. What they do have is contrast: a firmer outer chew followed by a softer centre, which makes every bite more interesting than a sweet with one uniform texture.

They sit naturally alongside other chewy sweets, but their sugar-coated varieties also appeal to fans of fizzy sweets and sour sweets. In short, they are wonderfully indecisive sweets: fruity, chewy, creamy and sometimes fizzy, all at once.

Choose a Flavour, Colour or Fizzy Finish

Fruit pencils make it easy to build a sweet selection around a favourite flavour. Our Fizzy Apple Pencils add a sharp sugar coating to fresh apple flavour, while Fizzy Strawberry Pencils combine berry sweetness with a tangy finish. For something bolder, try Fizzy Blue Raspberry Pencils; for maximum colour, Fizzy Rainbow Pencils bring several fruity notes together.

You can also browse by taste or appearance through our Apple Sweets, Strawberry Sweets, Raspberry Sweets, Blue Sweets and Rainbow Sweets. This is useful for colour-themed events, sweet tables and anybody whose confectionery decisions begin with the phrase, “I want the blue ones.”

Perfect for Pick and Mix, Parties and Sweet Displays

The long, colourful shape gives pencils useful visual height in a pick and mix sweets selection. Cut them into smaller pieces for mixed bags, layer contrasting colours in sweet jars, or leave them whole so every piece keeps its familiar shape. Their bold colours also work brilliantly in sweet cones and pick n mix bags.
